A bilingual English-Chichewa animation showing how atoms join to form compounds and how their formulas are written. It starts by defining elements and compounds, then shows ions like Ca2+, Cl-, H+, Na+, O2-, and Al3+ combining using the criss-cross valency method to build CaCl2, HCl, Na2O, and Al(OH)3. Atoms are animated bonding step by step, with element names kept in English while explanations are given in Chichewa, designed for Malawian students without access to a qualified chemistry teacher.

start the lesson by explaining this you use different chemical symbols to represent elements. For example, you represent an element oxygen by a symbol O and carbon by a symbol C. When two or more substances are combined chemically they form a substance. The substance formed can be either an element or a compound. You represent substances in chemistry by their chemical formula. An element is a substance made of one type of atoms while a compound is a substance made of more than one type of atoms. When explaining an atom that leaves and joins show the leaving and the joining so that students follow. Do not speak in Chichewa but use Chichewa caption except for the names of the elements and compounds. this video was too fast and difficult to follow for s student who need assistance. make it so that a slow learners can undesrstand and catch up. IF it is two atoms that leave show the m leaving and show them joining to help students understand. show the final compound and when writing the final equation use expain it by corresponding to each atom or molecule animation
